Configure Permission to Assign a Primary Technician to Service Requests
Objective
This SOP explains how to grant the Schedule Tech permission so selected users can assign a primary technician to a service request. It covers both individual user setup and permission profile setup to ensure the correct team members have access.
Key Steps
Open the Users area in the menu 0:00
Navigate to the main Menu.
Select Users.
This is where permission access for assigning a primary technician is managed.
2. Choose whether to update one user or multiple users 0:12
Decide whether the permission should be added:
Individually for one user, or
Through a Permission Profile for multiple users.
Use the Users tab for a single user.
Use the Permission Profiles tab when the same access should apply to several users.
3. Add the Schedule Tech permission to an individual user 0:25
Stay on the Users tab.
Use the Search By field to find the correct user.
Open that user’s Permissions.
In the Search By permissions field, type Schedule Tech.
Confirm the permission appears under Service Requests.
4. Add the Schedule Tech permission to a permission profile 0:43
Click the Permission Profiles tab.
Select the appropriate profile.
Open the profile’s Permissions.
Search for Schedule Tech.
Verify the permission appears under Service Requests.
Save or confirm the profile update so all assigned users receive the permission.
5. Verify access is limited to the correct users 1:02
Confirm only authorized users or profiles have the Schedule Tech permission.
Use this permission to control who can assign a primary technician to a service request.
Review access periodically to ensure technician assignment responsibilities remain properly restricted.
Cautionary Notes
Schedule Tech is permission-based, so users without this permission will not be able to assign a primary technician.
Be careful when updating a Permission Profile because changes may affect multiple users at once.
Always verify the permission is listed under Service Requests before considering the setup complete.
