SOP: Using Lightning Ad Modal to Add Items to Quotes and Orders
Objective
Use the Lightning Ad Modal to efficiently add items to a quote or order while capturing key sales details, pricing rules, and item information in one place. This SOP helps reduce manual entry, speed up order entry, and ensure pricing and allocation details are applied correctly.
Key Steps
1. Open the Lightning Ad Modal from the Order or Quote Screen 0:19
Navigate to a new or existing order/quote in Point of Sale.
Locate the Lightning Ad modal next to the Add Items button.
Click the Lightning Ad modal to begin entering item details before adding the item to the sale.
2. Enter Pre-Item Details Before Searching for the Product 0:40
Use the available fields to capture order-specific information before adding the item.
Select a room from the dropdown if applicable.
Choose pickup/delivery options as needed.
Enter an alternate sales associate if commission sharing is required.
Add any relevant sales tags for the order or quote.
3. Search for the Item to Add 1:05
In the model search field, type the model number to find matching items.
Review the results that begin with the entered model number.
Click the desired item to select it.
If needed, click the magnifying glass to open the familiar add item screen.
4. Review and Adjust Item Quantity and Pricing 1:27
Confirm the item is added to the modal with a default quantity of 1.
Change the quantity if the order requires more than one unit.
Review the unit price displayed for the item.
If a special pricing rule is needed, use the pricing icon next to the unit price.
5. Apply a Cascading Price Rule When Needed 1:35
Click the pricing icon to open the list of available price rules.
Select the appropriate rule from the system list.
Example: choose MSRP minus $100 if that is the required pricing structure.
Confirm the unit price updates automatically after the rule is applied.
6. Add the Item to the Order or Quote 2:03
Once all details are correct, click Add to place the item into the order or quote.
Verify the item is added successfully.
Confirm the selected price rule remains attached if it should apply to additional items.
7. Review Item Details and Stock Allocation 2:27
Check the item description shown in the Lightning Ad modal.
Review the stock allocation information provided.
Use this information to confirm the item is appropriate for the sale before continuing.
8. Reset or Finish the Lightning Ad Process 2:36
Click Reset to clear the Lightning Ad screen and remove the applied price rule.
Use Reset when starting a new item entry that should not inherit the previous pricing rule.
Click Done when all item entry tasks are complete.
Cautionary Notes
Ensure the correct room, pickup option, and sales associate are selected before adding the item.
Verify any applied price rule is intentional, since it may remain attached to subsequent items until reset.
Confirm quantity and unit price before clicking Add to avoid order corrections later.
Review stock allocation details carefully to avoid promising unavailable inventory.
Tips for Efficiency
Enter all order-level details first so you do not need to edit the item after it is added.
Use model number search for faster item lookup when the exact model is known.
Apply price rules only when needed, and use Reset immediately after to prevent accidental reuse.
Keep an eye on the attached price rule indicator so you know whether it will carry forward to the next item.
