SOP: Use Model Starts With / Contains Search to Find Items Faster in Quotes and Orders
Objective
This SOP explains how to use the new model search filters when adding an item to a quote or order. The goal is to help team members quickly locate the correct product model by searching for models that start with or contain specific text.
Key Steps
1. Open the Add Item Search 0:00
When working in a quote or order, go to Add Item.
Use the search area to begin locating the correct product model.
This is where the new model search options are available.
2. Choose the Correct Search Type 0:11
In the Search By dropdown, select one of the new options:
Model Starts
Model Contains
Use Model Starts when you know the beginning of the model number.
Use Model Contains when you only know part of the model number and it may appear anywhere in the code.
3. Search for Models That Start With Specific Text 0:21
Select Model Starts.
Enter the known prefix, such as WET.
Review the results returned by the system.
The search will display every model number that begins with the text entered.
4. Search for Models That Contain Specific Text 0:21
Select Model Contains.
Enter the text you want to find, such as WET.
Review the results returned by the system.
The search will display any model number that includes the entered text anywhere in the model number.
5. Use Filters to Narrow Results Efficiently 0:33
Apply these search options to reduce the number of results shown.
Use the more precise filter when you want to limit scrolling through large product lists.
Confirm the model matches the item needed before adding it to the quote or order.
This improves speed and accuracy when selecting products.
Cautionary Notes
Model Starts only returns items beginning with the entered text; it will not find matches where the text appears later in the model number.
Model Contains may return more results than expected, so verify the selected item carefully.
Always confirm the model number before adding it to avoid quote or order errors.
Tips for Efficiency
Use Model Starts first if you know the exact prefix; it usually produces faster, cleaner results.
Use Model Contains when you only know part of the model number.
