SOP: Searching for Products in RPS Using Search Fields and Drop-Down Filters
Objective
This SOP explains how to locate products in RPS using the search by field and the brand, category, and type drop-down filters. It also covers how to combine search methods to narrow results and compare product lists efficiently.
Key Steps
1. Search for a Specific Model Using the Search By Field 0:18
Click into the Search By field.
Enter the full model number to locate an exact match.
Review the returned result to confirm it matches the model you need.
Use this method first when you already know the exact model number.
2. Search Using Part of a Model Number or Description 0:35
Enter part of a model number, such as WTW, into the Search By field.
Review results that begin with or contain the entered text.
Use the search results to identify models that match the partial number.
If needed, search by a word or phrase found in the description to locate related products.
3. Clear the Current Search 1:23
Click the Clear Search button when you want to reset the current search.
Use this before starting a new search if the current filters are no longer needed.
Confirm the search fields are cleared before entering new criteria.
4. Build a Product List Using Brand, Category, and Type Filters 1:33
Open the Brand drop-down and select a brand, such as Whirlpool.
Narrow the list by selecting a Category, such as Washers.
Narrow it further by selecting a Type, such as Top Load.
Use the resulting list to compare similar products within the same group.
5. Select Multiple Brands, Categories, or Types to Expand Results 2:09
Use the drop-down filters to select more than one brand when needed, such as Whirlpool and GE.
Add multiple categories or types to broaden the list, such as Washers and Dryers.
Review the combined results to compare products across brands or product groups.
Use this approach when you need a broader comparison set.
6. Combine Drop-Down Filters with Search By Field 2:51
Start with brand, category, and/or type filters to create a base list.
Enter a partial model number, such as WTW, into the Search By field.
Keep the existing drop-down selections in place while narrowing the list further.
Use the combined filters to quickly isolate the exact products you need.
Cautionary Notes
Ensure you understand whether you need an exact model match or a partial match before searching.
Be aware that partial searches may return multiple results, so verify the correct model before proceeding.
When using multiple filters, confirm that the selected brand, category, and type are all intentional to avoid missing relevant products.
If results seem incorrect or too limited, clear the search and start again with fewer filters.
Tips for Efficiency
Use the Search By field first when you already know the model number.
Use brand/category/type filters when you want to compare similar products.
Combine filters and partial model searches to reduce time spent scanning large result lists.
Clear searches between unrelated tasks to avoid carrying over old criteria.
Select multiple brands or categories only when comparison across groups is needed.
