Scheduling an Order for Delivery

Updated over 3 weeks ago

In the following video we discuss scheduling orders using three different methods: scheduling directly on the order, using the delivery schedule, and utilizing the open order report with the ready to ship option.

Order Scheduling Process

Key Steps

  1. Scheduling Directly on the Order:

    • Confirm the availability of the product for delivery.

    • Communicate with the customer to determine the preferred delivery date.

    • Select the estimated delivery field on the order and choose the date.

    • Choose between a soft schedule (for the day) or a hard schedule (specific time on the day).

    • Optionally, assign the order to a specific truck and time based on permissions.

    • Save the order once scheduled.

  2. Using the Delivery Schedule:

    • Access the delivery schedule for the desired delivery date.

    • Use the unscheduled option to search for orders that need scheduling.

    • Select the order to schedule and choose the delivery date.

    • Assign the order to a specific truck after setting the delivery date.

    • Ensure efficient truck routing by assigning orders strategically.

  3. Utilizing the Open Order Report with Ready to Ship Option:

    • Check the open order report with the ready to ship filter.

    • Identify orders that are paid up and ready for delivery.

    • Modify delivery dates using bulk edit if needed.

    • Assign the order to a specific truck and time for delivery.

    • Verify the scheduled delivery on the delivery schedule.

Cautionary Notes

  • Ensure that the product availability is confirmed before scheduling.

  • Double-check the customer's preferred delivery date to avoid errors.

  • Use permissions wisely when assigning orders to trucks and specific times.

  • Be cautious when modifying delivery dates to prevent confusion.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Prioritize strategic truck routing for efficient delivery schedules.

  • Regularly check the open order report with the ready to ship filter for quick scheduling.

  • Utilize bulk edit options for faster modifications to multiple orders.

  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure smooth delivery scheduling.

By following these steps, team members can effectively schedule orders using different methods to streamline the delivery process and enhance customer satisfaction.
