The following video discusses generating and analyzing the tax report to determine the total tax owed based on sales data. The video explores accessing the tax report, setting a date range, tax summary, detailed view, miscellaneous tax, printing and exporting.

Tax Report Overview

Key Steps:

  1. Accessing the Tax Report:

    • Log in to the Homestore Systems platform.

    • Navigate to the Reports section.

    • Select the Tax tab to access the tax report.

  2. Selecting Date Range:

    • Choose the date range for which you want to generate the tax report.

    • The system does not automatically populate the dates, so ensure to input the correct start and end dates based on your last tax payment date.

  3. Viewing Tax Summary:

    • After selecting the date range, the system will automatically populate a tax summary.

    • The summary will display taxes by jurisdiction, total sales dollars, total taxable amount, total non-taxable amount, and the total tax owed.

  4. Viewing Detailed Tax Information:

    • Click on the Sales Tax tab to view detailed information.

    • Detailed information includes individual orders, taxable amounts per order, tax rates, and total tax amounts per order.

  5. Miscellaneous Tax Information:

    • Check the Miscellaneous Tax tab for any additional taxes like white goods tax or hallway taxes.

    • Select the specific tax type to view details by order number.

  6. Printing and Exporting Reports:

    • To print a summary report, use the Print button on the tax summary page.

    • For a detailed report, go to the Sales Tax section, and export the report to Excel or print it.

  • Ensure to input the correct date range to accurately calculate the total tax owed.

  • Double-check the tax summary and detailed information for accuracy before proceeding with any tax payments or reporting.

  • Save time by exporting detailed reports for your accountant or tax purposes.
