Ability to Ignore a Plaid Transaction in Credit Card Reconciliation

Users can now ignore unreconciled credit card transactions that would otherwise prevent them from completing a reconciliation session. The new Ignore Transaction option provides two choices: Ignore Forever, which permanently removes the transaction from reconciliation, or Ignore for This Session, which temporarily hides it until the next reconciliation session. This gives users more flexibility when a transaction cannot be matched or resolved immediately.

SOP: Ignoring Unmatched Credit Card Transactions During Reconciliation

Objective

This SOP explains how to handle credit card transactions that cannot be matched or reconciled during a reconciliation session. It allows the user to either ignore a transaction for the current session or permanently remove it from reconciliation so the rest of the session can be completed without delay.

Key Steps

1. Identify an unreconciled transaction 0:00

  • During credit card reconciliation, review each transaction for a match.

  • If a transaction cannot be matched or reconciled, do not stop the entire session.

  • Determine whether the transaction should be set aside temporarily or removed permanently.

2. Continue reconciliation without resolving the transaction immediately 0:10

  • If one transaction is preventing completion of the reconciliation, use the ignore option instead of leaving the session unfinished.

  • This allows you to complete the reconciliation process even when one item remains unresolved.

  • Use this approach when the transaction can be addressed later or does not need immediate action.

3. Use the Ignore Transaction icon 0:31

  • Navigate to Accounts Payable > Credit Cards.

  • Locate the transaction that cannot be reconciled.

  • Select the Ignore Transaction icon next to that transaction to open the available options.

4. Choose whether to ignore the transaction permanently or for the current session 0:42

  • After selecting the icon, choose one of the following:

    • Ignore Forever: Permanently removes the transaction from credit card reconciliation.

    • Ignore for This Session: Hides the transaction only for the current reconciliation session.

  • Select the option that matches the business need before proceeding.

5. Understand the impact of ignoring forever 0:56

  • Use Ignore Forever only when you are certain the transaction should never be reconciled.

  • This action cannot be undone.

  • Once ignored forever, the transaction cannot be brought back into credit card reconciliation.

6. Complete the session and monitor ignored items as needed 1:05

  • If you choose Ignore for This Session, finish the current reconciliation session normally.

  • The transaction will remain hidden only for that session and will reappear in future sessions.

  • Review reappearing transactions in later sessions to determine whether they can be reconciled at that time.

Cautionary Notes

  • Ignore Forever is permanent and cannot be reversed.

  • Do not use permanent ignore unless the transaction is confirmed to be excluded from reconciliation.

  • Ignoring a transaction for the session does not resolve it; it only hides it temporarily.

  • Ensure unresolved transactions are reviewed later if they reappear in future sessions.

Tips for Efficiency

  • Use Ignore for This Session when you need to finish reconciliation quickly and can address the transaction later.

  • Reserve Ignore Forever for transactions that are confirmed to be non-reconcilable.

  • This feature helps prevent one problematic transaction from delaying the entire reconciliation process.

  • Review unresolved items after the session so they do not become overlooked.
